Inner Child

Life used to be simple.
You’d laugh and run,
Swing and play,
There were no rules,
Or stress.
Then you grew up,
And people started to say,
It’s time to to act your age.
No more play time,
Or naps in the sun.
Society says you can’t do what you used to.
No more being free,
No more being careless.
Sometimes a man just needs,
To run in a field.
So go on,
Drop the phone,
Screw the email,
Tell your boss your taking a break,
And release the inner child.
Let him laugh,
Let him run,
Let him swing and play.
Remember what it was,
To be wild and free.
Go ahead and release,
The inner child.
