Heartbeat

Thump, thump.
My heart skips when you enter the room.
Thump, thump.
My knees weaken as you pass.
Thump, thump.
Your smile brightens my day.
Thump, thump.
My lips moisten at the sight of yours.
Thump, thump.
Your eyes melt me like butter.
Thump, thump.
Your voice lingers in my ear like the song of an angel.
Thump, thump.
I feel your aroma caress my nostrils.
Thump, thump.
I know I love you.
Thump, thump.
My heart falls.
Thump, thump.
Because I know better.

Whispers in the Dark

As the hours fade,
As the moonlight wanes,
As others drift in dreams,
As creatures stalk,
As the breeze blows,
As I wander where I will,
As I listen to the night,
Deep in the dark,
Your ghost whispers.

You speak of the things that were,
You speak of who I was,
You speak of how I fell,
You speak of love long gone,
You speak of us,
Deep in the dark,
Your ghost whispers.

When all is quite,
When the moon is all but gone,
When the night is spent,
When I drift toward sleep,
When the creatures bed down,
When all is calm,
Deep in the dark,
Your ghost whispers.

Losing You

You say you’ll never leave
You promise to always be here
You swear we’ll be friends
You break down my walls
You push your way in
You say it’s ok
You promise not to hurt me
You swear your true
You make it so damn hard to refuse
You know me like no one else
You are there when I need
You tell me your not going anyway
You make me believe
You say I’m like family
You swear your for real
You promise to listen
You make me feel safe
You see through my lies
You know when I’m upset
You have seen me broken
You know me better than I do
For all this
I’m scared to death
Of losing you.

Lost

I can hear them falling,
Feel them calling.
Each drop a cry,
For once they tried.
Mother Nature weeps,
Her tears so sweet.
Her pain,
So vast and deep,
One only hears in the rain.

Rain

I can hear them falling,
Feel them calling.
Each drop a cry,
For once they tried.
Mother Nature weeps,
Her tears so sweet.
Her pain,
So vast and deep,
One only hears in the rain.

Running

The past returns,
Whenever I look back.
It swells up,
‘Till it’s just too much.
I try to lock it out,
To move away.
Yet still it balloons,
Getting ever stronger.
So I duck my head,
I turn my face,
I will my muscles to move,
‘Till all there is is running.

Regret

It stalks you in the night,
Takes hold of you tight.
You try to fight,
Use up all of your might.
You try to run.
But run you can’t.
It finds you where ever you go.
It is always waiting,
Just around the corner.
Try as you might,
You can’t escape it.
So you give up,
And give in.

Because Your Gone

We had something special/
Said we’d make it somehow/
But when the road got rough/
You walked out on love/
Said you needed your time/
Just a little space/
I’m wondering how/
Your priorities got/
All out of place/

I woke up this morning/
To skies of grey/
Looked down beside me/
But you’d gone away/
I don’t know what happened/
To the girl I knew/
Now I’m stuck/
Singing the blues/

Cry myself to sleep/
Jack’s the only friend I have/
 I’m sing the blues/
Because your gone/
Left me all alone/
Said it’s time to move on/
I’ll strum my guitar/
And pluck on those keys/
‘Till I forget your face/
And what you done to me/
Because your gone/

Used to be happy/
When you where here/
Now that your gone/
Just wanna disappear/
Crawl to the bar/
To find some relief/
Only to see your face/
In every drink they give me/

I woke up this morning/
To skies of grey/
Looked down beside me/
But you’d gone away/
I don’t know what happened/
To that girl I knew/
Now I’m stuck/
Singing the blues/

Cry myself to sleep/
Jack’s the only friend I have/
 I’m sing the blues/
Because your gone/
Left me alone/
Said it’s time to move on/
I’ll strum my guitar/
And pluck on those keys/
‘Till I forget your face/
And what you done to me/
Because your gone/

You left me alone/
Got me singing the blues/
All on my own/
Spending my nights/
Drinking you away/
Awake in the morning/
To skies of grey/
Pour me some coffee/
To chase the pain/
But when the fuzziness fades/
Your memory is still the same/
Who knew life could be/
So damn lame/

I woke up this morning/
To skies of grey/
Looked down beside me/
But you’d gone away/
I don’t know what happened/
To that girl I knew/
Now I’m stuck/
Singing the blues/

Cry myself to sleep/
Jack’s the only friend I have/
 I’m sing the blues/
Because your gone/
Left me alone/
Said it’s time to move on/
I’ll strum my guitar/
And pluck on those keys/
‘Till I forget your face/
And what you done to me/
Because your gone/

Inner Child

Life used to be simple.
You’d laugh and run,
Swing and play,
There were no rules,
Or stress.
Then you grew up,
And people started to say,
It’s time to to act your age.
No more play time,
Or naps in the sun.
Society says you can’t do what you used to.
No more being free,
No more being careless.
Sometimes a man just needs,
To run in a field.
So go on,
Drop the phone,
Screw the email,
Tell your boss your taking a break,
And release the inner child.
Let him laugh,
Let him run,
Let him swing and play.
Remember what it was,
To be wild and free.
Go ahead and release,
The inner child.
